BIOGRAPHY

Laurence started working at GEC Marconi Sensors in 1994, now Leonardo, in Basildon, Essex, where he developed his career as a Senior Hardware Engineer and Electrical Design Authority.

Duties included developing electrical and electronics for thermal imaging sensors and supporting trials for the UK Army land vehicles and the US Navy F/A-18 aircraft. 

During this time, he gained a 2.1 degree in Electronics and also started teaching an HNC course in the evenings at Thurrock & Basildon College, Essex. In December 2008, Laurence was given the opportunity to start teaching full-time. 

Laurence can teach a wide range of engineering units, from Level 1 through to Level 6, including Electrical & Electronic Principles, Digital and Analogue Electronics, Microprocessors, Test & Measurement and PLCs, Robotics, Mechatronics and Automation. 

In 2011, Laurence became a fully qualified teacher with PGCE and QTLS and in 2016 was awarded Chartered Engineer status by the UK Engineering Council.

Since 2019, Laurence has been a lecturer in Electrical & Electronics and course coordinator for HNC Electronics at Lincoln College University Centre.
