The Air and Space Institute (ASI) proudly announces its recent partnership with Eastern Airways, a leading independent UK airline. This partnership marks a pivotal moment in ASI's mission to provide technology-led education while aligning closely with industry needs, blending academia with real-world insights.
Founded in 1997 by Richard Lake OBE, Eastern Airways is one of the UK's leading domestic airlines, enabling connectivity across the country for business and leisure travel - operating out of Humberside Airport in Lincolnshire.
Over the years, Eastern Airways has garnered acclaim for its service excellence and industry-leading initiatives, earning accolades within the aviation industry. With a strong commitment to excellence - underscored by its IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) accreditation, signifying top-tier safety standards.
One of the distinctive aspects of Eastern Airways operations is its versatile fleet, which includes the venerable BAE Systems Jetstream 41. Since 2003, this UK-manufactured regional aircraft has been a stalwart in the Eastern Airways fleet, symbolising reliability and performance. Notably, Eastern Airways boasts the only remaining simulator worldwide for the Jetstream 41, a testament to its commitment to pilot training and proficiency.
Ross Tarnowski, Assistant Principal at the Lincoln College Group, said, “ASI's emphasis on technology-led learning finds resonance with Eastern Airways forward-looking approach to training and operations.
“By joining forces, both entities aim to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industry practices, thereby enriching the educational experience for students. Through access to Eastern Airways resources, including state-of-the-art simulators and industry expertise, ASI students can hone their skills and emerge as competent professionals ready to navigate the dynamic aviation landscape.”
Jeni Cornwall, People and Culture Manager at Eastern Airways, said “We are really honoured to be partnering with ASI Newark as we are committed to supporting the next generation of aviation specialists as they enter the world of work after completing their studies.
"At Eastern Airways, we pride ourselves on bringing in and nurturing top talent, developing them into the best in the industry. To be able to offer students at ASI Newark the opportunity to carry out placements with us and gain 'on the job' experience is something we cannot wait to get started with.
“We are proud to work in partnership with the college and its incredible facility and look forward to having our first students at Humberside very soon.”
With this educational partnership, Eastern Airways reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talent and driving innovation within the sector amongst ever-evolving advancements in aviation technology and practices.
