Cyber, Robotics, Engineering and Flying were just some of the key subjects covered over a week of activity as the Air & Space Institute in Newark hosted the Royal Air Force Cadet’s National Air & Space Camp 2026.
More than 400 cadets attended workshops, lessons and learning opportunities in Lincoln College Group’s amazing facility in Newark as part of a second year of hosting for the ASI.
Curriculum Director at the ASI, Jason Pimborough, said: “This is a relationship that goes back two years and we’re so glad to have opened our doors and facilities to the cadets again this year. We were also excited to attend the Industry Day over at RAF Syerston where the cadets were also welcomed to ask further about our offering.
“Our aim was to show what an exemplary location we have here at the ASI and the opportunities that we can provide to the wider supply chain in the industry. It was great to see the cadets throwing themselves into the planned activities and we hope we can welcome them next year too.
“It was fantastic to see some of our existing students as part of the camp. Thank you to all staff that helped make this week of activity happen, the feedback we have had from Senior Officers was also very complimentary.
“Further talks have revealed a desire to broaden RAFACs involvement in pilot training through the year and, an expansion of activities for NASC 2027, which is great news.”
Squadron Leader and OC Training for the National Air & Space Camp, Alex Fuller, said: “We’re very excited to be attending the ASI, it’s an amazing facility and this has given our cadets access to experiences and facilities that they wouldn’t normally get to take part in. Using the simulators and the Airbus that they have here is something we’re pleased to be able to offer so many cadets this week.”
