BIOGRAPHY

Enlisting in the RAF in 1991, Ambrose began his career as an Aircraft Propulsion Mechanic servicing and maintaining the Tornado F3 fleet on 25 (F) SQN, RAF Leeming, and later, the C-130 Hercules platform at RAF Lyneham.

After a further training course at DCAE Cosford, he was promoted to technician level and posted to RAF Brize Norton where he developed his aircraft engineering skillset on the VC10 aircraft over the next 5 years. Promotion to Corporal and a subsequent posting to RAF Odiham saw him serving in both first line and second line engineering environments in the MESF Engine Bay followed by a short tenure on 18 (B) Sqn working on the Chinook aircraft.

After returning to RAF Brize Norton for several years to embark on a second tour employed on a VC10 squadron, Ambrose ended his engineering career in the Service at RAF Marham in 2013 where he had been working in a variety of second line environments as a SNCO.

He trained to be a school teacher when he entered the civilian sector as part of the DfE sponsored ‘Troops To Teachers’ initiative and graduated with the QTS teaching award and BA (Hons) in 2015 where he found teaching and support roles in secondary schools in Aylesbury and Lincoln before joining ASI in September 2024 as a Lecturer in Aircraft Engineering.
