Will Lees recently graduated from the Aviation Operations pathway at ASI and has secured a place against around 18,000 other applicants to become one of the first ever cohort of 60 commercial pilot trainees as part of the Jet2FlightPath programme.
Will studied hard while at the ASI, but also took every opportunity to embark on work placements, valuable work experience and also took a part time job with Jet2 as a Customer Helper in his spare time to familiarise himself with the airline before applying for the hotly-contested position available.
Set up this year, the 18-month training programme means Will and his fellow hopefuls will have their training fully funded, a package normally worth around £150,000.
Will is also set to return to the ASI to speak at enrichment opportunities for current pupils to give them an insight into becoming a commercial pilot.
