Aspiring students from Lincoln and Newark College, Stamford and Peterborough studying under the esteemed Air and Defence College (ADC) and Air and Space Institute (ASI) were welcomed to a formal matriculation ceremony at the prestigious International Bomber Command Centre this afternoon.

This remarkable, historically rich location symbolised a significant step in their journey towards an enriching aviation education.

Ross Tarnowski, Assistant Principal at the Lincoln College group, leading the Air & Space Institute and Engineering, said: “I'm proud to emphasise that our matriculation ceremony marks the very beginning of our students' incredible journeys.

“This event serves as a powerful symbol of our unwavering commitment to shaping not only their academic path but also their character. It brings together the military and defence and civil courses of ASI as well as our partner Air & Defence Colleges, highlighting the unity of purpose that defines our programmes. It's the moment where we launch our students into a future filled with promise, celebrating their potential and the immense support they receive at this exciting starting point of their educational voyage.

Ultimately, it’s our key industry partners who can be seen here today, including the RAF, whose contribution in shaping the curriculum through enrichment provision and collaborative activities, bring the programmes to life and ensure our students are work ready with the required knowledge, skills and behaviours to thrive.”

Guest of honour, Air Commodore ‘Chas’ Dickens OBE ADC MA FCMI RAF, Commandant of the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell in his opening address to the students, said: “By joining the Air & Defence Colleges or the Air & Space Institute you will develop skills, gain an insight into the Royal Air Force and the careers available. With hard work and commitment, you will be prepared both mentally and physically for the challenges during selection and your first stages of service.

Good luck and please make the most of the opportunities that the College Teams and the wider Royal Air Force has to offer during your studies.”
