Level 4 Aeronautical Engineering students recently showcased their latest project - a series of custom-designed drones developed as part of their practical module, Engineering Design and Engineering Project.
As part of the module, students were challenged to design, build, and present fully functional drones and present them to Level 3 engineering students at the Air and Space Institute (ASI).
The project brought together everything from CAD design and 3D printing to circuitry, coding, and testing - all supported by ASI’s expert teaching staff.
“It’s one thing to learn about the mechanics in a lecture - but building your own and watching it fly is completely different,” said one of the presenting students.
The end-of-year presentations follow recent celebrations by the ASI Aeronautical Engineering team, who received outstanding commendations from Pearson’s External Examiners for their HNC Aeronautical Engineering programme in its inaugural year.
“The presentations marked the culmination of weeks of hands-on learning, creativity, and teamwork, whilst also highlighting the core strength of our Aeronautical Engineering course: giving students the tools and confidence to turn theory into practice” added HNC Aeronautical Engineering Lecturer, Laurence Roberts.
