Guest speaker Rob Barsby inspired the learners with his jaw-dropping experiences as part of AeroSPARX - the only team in the world to combine Formation flying, Aerobatics and night time pyro!
Rob aims to challenge people's perception of aviation and that’s exactly what he did when he came to speak to the first cohort of students at the International Air & Space Training Institute (IASTI) in Newark.
He told the learners about his background and journey to become a pilot, explaining that the route to a career in aviation doesn’t have to be expensive. Then he impressed his audience with photos and videos of his pioneering airshows with AeroSPARX.
AeroSPARX was established in 2015 by Rob and fellow pilot Guy Westgate. They regularly take to the sky in their Grob109b motor gliders. By day, they perform a formation flying display with aerial acrobatics, while at night they shine with their unique pyro fireworks display. Over the last six years they have been captivating audiences across Europe, Asia and New Zealand.
Nathan Banyard, from the pilot pathway at IASTI Newark said: “Wow! He really opened our eyes and encouraged us to dream big with our careers. He’s given us insight into how big the aviation industry is!”
His classmate George Annakin adds: “I found him really inspiring and motivating and he’s helped us to see what's possible if we put ourselves out there to meet people in the industry. I think the course will help us to do that.”
Find out how IASTI Newark can help broaden your horizons within the aviation industry at our open day on Thursday 11th November. Register to attend here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/193566802517
