The Air and Space Institute (ASI) has partnered with the Newark Air Museum to provide distinctive educational opportunities. As an institution that focuses on delivering STEM education to students in the Newark area, we are delighted to partner with a heritage site to educate and inspire students with aviation relics.
The Newark Air Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of aviation and aerospace. The museum features a variety of aircraft, engines, and other artefacts from the early days of flight to the present day.
The museum is home to many iconic aircraft such as the Canberra, Sea Harrier and Vulcan Bomber. As well as impressive engine displays from Rolls-Royce Merlin, which was in iconic WW2 aircraft to the modern Avco Lycoming T-55 - an engine from a modern chinook helicopter.
It is a fantastic opportunity for both organisations to combine resources and expertise to provide unique educational experiences for learners. It’s an extraordinary way to inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
Ross Tarnowski, Head of Learning and Skills for Engineering and Technology, said: “We are thrilled to work with the Newark Air Museum to provide our students with access to the rich history of aviation and aerospace.”
“This partnership will allow us to enhance our curriculum and provide hands-on learning opportunities that will engage and inspire students.”
Howard Heeley, Museum Trustee, said: “As the Air & Space Institute starts its journey in the local area, the air museum is proud to be exploring ways that it can become a partner.”
“Over the years, the air museum’s diverse collection of nearly one hundred aircraft and cockpit sections has helped to inspire many different people to have an interest in aviation.
“We are confident that this new partnership will help to foster similar inspiration for the students at the Air & Space Institute for many years into the future.”
